Personalized surgery for adults and children - surgery of the future was the generic title of a national scientific-practical conference with international participation, dedicated to illustrious surgeon, founder of the country’s surgical service, Constantin Țîbîrnă. The scientific event was organized on March 24 and 25, 2022, in a mixed format, by the Academy of Sciences of Moldova (ASM) in partnership with Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy.
The conference was attended by leading figures in the field of medicine such as: Eva Gudumac, Ion Tighineanu, Stanislav Groppa, Gheorghe Țîbîrnă. At the same time, the international scientific forum brought together several foreign representatives of academia from: Romania, Armenia, Belarus and the Russian Federation, with a number of over 30 participants - academicians, habilitated doctors of sciences, university professors, young researchers, etc.
"It is an event of great importance for both the national health system and the University, representing the first meeting of its kind in the field of surgery in our country. The life and activity of Professor Constantin Ţîbîrnă is an exceptional model for our vocation, an example of faithful service determining our present and future and worth following by the young generations ", mentioned at the inauguration of the forum Nicolae Testemitanu University rector, Professor Emil Ceban.
Academician Eva Gudumac underlined that the scientific event highlighted the results of the activity of the scientific-teaching staff and researchers of Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy, the ASM, the Oncological Institute and the Institute of Mother and Child under the project on Personalized Medicine targeting tumors and malformations in children and adults.
Vice-Rector for Research Academician Stanislav Groppa mentioned the need to continue research on personalized medicine, specifying that in order to consolidate this direction not only university’s medical researchers should be involved but also those from the Academy of Sciences of Moldova.
Academician Ion Tighineanu emphasized that during the last years the Academy of Sciences of Moldova had a very efficient collaboration with Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy and with other research institutes in the field, obtaining tangible results of major significance for the national health system.
The varied program of the conference included topical issues in the field of surgery in children and adults. Associate professor Silvia Răileanu, head of Ion Lupan Department of Pediatric Oro-maxillofacial Surgery and Pedodontics, and other members of the department addressed the issue of oro-maxillofacial diseases in children, presenting various clinical cases.
Associate professor Diana Uncuța, head of Pavel Godoroja Propaedeutics of Dental Medicine Department at Nicolae Testemitanu University, mentioned in her presentation dedicated to the late deans and university professors of Dentistry Faculty - Pavel Godoroja and Ion Lupan - that these personalities influenced the itinerary and progress both of the faculty and of many generations of specialists.
University professor Aurelia Spinei presented the paper The Impact of Tumor Necrosis Factor on Dental Caries in Children with Tumors.
At the end of the conference, academician Gheorghe Țîbîrnă, the brother of Professor Constantin Țîbîrnă, thanked all the participants for their dedication and contribution, pointing out that “Personalized Surgery for Adults and Children - Surgery of the Future is an event of major importance for local medicine, due to the topics addressed, and the tribute paid to Professor Constantin Țîbîrnă is of special significance”.
